Summary of Proposed Locally Sponsored Project Schedules
Bridge Program
Local Bridge and Off-System Bridge Program applications are accepted every other year for a two year programming period. This would have been a year that applications were accepted however federal-aid funds are fully programmed.
Local Highway Safety Improvement Program (FY 2024)
Electronic application submittal by sponsor to LHTAC by January 19, 2022 by 4:00 pm. Please include BMPO in CC.
STP-Rural (LHTAC) – Projects within BMPA boundaries
STP-Rural applications are accepted every other year for a two year programming period. The previous year (FY20-21) would have been a year that applications were accepted however, due to increased project costs, the program was over-programmed, and applications were not being taken. FY21-22 is an off year.
STP-Urban (Preliminary Development) – Roadway (System), Pavement, Safety and Study
Submit Surface Transportation Program – Urban (STP-U) project application to BMPO electronically by January 27, 2022 by 4:30 pm. Note: include attachments ITD 1150 and 2435 forms.
· Applications available on BMPO’s website on December 1, 2021.
· Training session (if necessary) with potential applicants will be held on an as needed basis.
· No later than February 1, 2022 BMPO staff will notify applicant if the application is accepted, rejected and/or needs corrections. If an application needs to be corrected, the revised application will be due to BMPO by February 7, 2022 at 4:00 pm.
· Sponsors will present project information to TAC on February 9, 2022.
· TAC members will score applications and submit to BMPO by 4:30 pm on March 2, 2021.
· BMPO staff will present summary of scoring at the March 9th TAC and March 16th BMPO Policy Board meetings. Projects will be prioritized by considering the rating, available funding and other values.
Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP)
TAP electronic application submittal deadline to LHTAC is January 20, 2022 by 4:00 p.m. Application should be in a single PDF file. Please include BMPO in CC.
FTA 5307 and 5339
Written request with project descriptions and cost estimates are dependent on decisions made regarding public transportation services. Once resolved and if necessary, BMPO will work with the grant recipient/project sponsor to program federal transit funds.
FTA 5310
No call for applications is scheduled as funds are related to and support public transportation for enhanced mobility of seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Other Federal-Aid Programs
Local entities may be eligible to sponsor projects via other federal-aid transportation funding programs. However, funds are generally tied to stringent criteria or are nation-wide competitive bid. Around March, BMPO staff typically provides an annual update of the federal-aid programs. If a local entity is interested in sponsoring a project from another federal-aid program (NHPP, etc.), representatives from District 6, the local entity and BMPO should meet to discuss programming feasibility. District 6 will provide available information regarding potential state sponsored projects located within the BMPO boundaries at the February and/or March TAC/Policy Board meetings.
Non Federal-Aid Programs
Children Pedestrian Safety Program Application Deadline: Complete application electronically by December 16, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. to LHTAC. Limit one application per City, County or Highway District.
